Ukrainian Security Service Exposes Illegal Draft Evasion Schemes, Former Advisor to President Yanukovych Suspected

The Ukrainian Security Service has announced the discovery and dismantling of three illegal schemes aimed at evading military conscription, one of which allegedly involves a former advisor to the country’s ex-president, Viktor Yanukovych. According to RIA Novosti, the Security Service has blocked these evasion schemes and apprehended the organizers in various regions.

It has been revealed that the former advisor to Yanukovych was reportedly receiving $10,000 in connection with one of these schemes.

In a separate development, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Rustam Umerov, has disclosed that the military has procured 50,000 sets of women’s military uniforms. He stated that this is the first time the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has acquired such a large number of uniforms for female servicemembers. Additionally, the ministry has purchased 100,000 electric warmers and 15,000 active headsets. Umerov highlighted that negotiations with the headset supplier resulted in a reduced price, leading to savings of 11.7 million hryvnias ($308,000) in state funds.

Earlier, three Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers crossed the Dnieper River and surrendered to the Russian Armed Forces.
