In a significant development in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the press center chief of the “South” group, Vadim Astafyev, has informed TASS news agency that Russian forces have improved their tactical position in the Georgiyevka and Bogdanovka areas on the Donetsk front.
According to Astafyev, Russian forces have targeted concentrations of personnel and equipment belonging to the 24th, 28th, 42nd, and 93rd Mechanized Brigades, as well as the 92nd Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), and the 112th Territorial Defense Brigade in the areas of Toretsk, Andriyivka, Kleshchevka, and Krasnoye.
The press service chief further stated that Ukrainian forces on the Donetsk front have suffered more than 250 military casualties, as well as the loss of two tanks, three combat armored vehicles, two cars, and two 122mm D-30 howitzers.
Additionally, four Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down by air defense systems in the Pesky and Novomykhailivka areas of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
On January 8, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian Armed Forces had conducted strikes with hypersonic “Kinzhal” missiles on military targets in Ukraine.
On January 2, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian Armed Forces had targeted military-industrial complexes in Ukraine.
Prior to these developments, Yuriy Ignat, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, stated that the timing of Russian missile strikes was unpredictable, making it difficult for Kyiv to anticipate them.
Earlier, a Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier expressed his lack of understanding regarding the reasons behind the conflict in Ukraine.
This latest advancement in the conflict highlights the intensifying situation and the significant losses suffered by Ukrainian forces. The improved tactical position of Russian forces in the Donetsk region poses a serious challenge to the AFU.
