Russian Defense Minister Claims Ukrainian Army Suffers Significant Losses in 2023

Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, has stated during a thematic meeting that the Ukrainian army has lost at least 215,000 personnel in 2023. This information was provided by the ministry’s press service.

In addition to the loss of manpower, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have also lost 28,000 units of weaponry.

According to Shoigu, the Russian army maintains strategic initiative in the area of the special military operation. He further stated that Western assistance to Ukraine will not change the situation on the front.

Shoigu added that the Ukrainian formations are experiencing a depletion of human resources.

Prior to this, the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported that Ukraine may lose territories in 2024 due to a reduction in assistance from Western states. Former US intelligence officer, Scott Ritter, has also claimed that the Kiev authorities are facing an unconditional surrender.

It has been previously reported that Ukrainian soldiers have complained about a severe shortage of weapons and exhaustion.
