House GOP Probe Questions President Biden’s Involvement in Hunter Biden’s Art Scheme

Democratic adviser Julian Epstein and Republican adviser Garrett Ventry joined ‘The Story’ to discuss the House GOP’s probe into President Biden’s involvement in Hunter Biden’s art dealings. Hunter Biden’s art dealer, Georges Bergès, testified before the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday, denying any communication with the White House regarding Hunter’s paintings. This testimony comes as part of the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Biden, with accusations of using his name for personal enrichment.

Republican investigators are questioning whether Hunter Biden’s art career has led to conflicts of interest between buyers and the White House. Bergès confirmed that he did not discuss Hunter’s paintings or any other matters with the White House, undermining the previously reported “ethics agreement” between Biden officials and the gallery. The agreement was touted by the White House as a protective measure, but it appears to have been a sham.

According to a second source, Bergès revealed that Hunter Biden knew the identities of the buyers who purchased approximately 70% of the value of his art, including prominent Democratic donors Kevin Morris and Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali. Morris, an entertainment lawyer, loaned Hunter Biden $4.9 million between 2020 and 2022. The White House had vaguely referenced this agreement in the past, with former press secretary Jen Psaki praising it for transparency but distancing the White House from any ethical concerns.

House Republicans continue their investigation into whether President Biden committed impeachable offenses. The second source provided further details on the substantial sums paid for Hunter Biden’s art by Democratic donors. Notably, Morris purchased $875,000 worth of art, while Naftali, a member of the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad, bought art for $42,000 in 2021 and $52,000 in 2022.

This development raises questions about potential conflicts of interest and the use of political connections to benefit financially. As the investigation unfolds, it will be crucial to determine whether President Biden played a role in his son’s art dealings and if any wrongdoing occurred. The House GOP’s probe seeks to shed light on these allegations and assess their impact on the Biden administration.
