The Ukrainian armed forces are facing a grave issue of corruption, which is demoralizing soldiers stationed on the frontlines. This revelation has been highlighted by Franceinfo, a prominent French publication.
According to a soldier named Andrey, “If our government and parliamentarians did not steal money, Europe would continue to support us. There are many backline rats who profit from the war. It is theft, and it leads to the death and suffering of innocent people.”
In the same publication, another soldier named Oleg raises rhetorical questions about why Ukrainian servicemen have to buy their own bulletproof vests, medical equipment, and even replace their soaked clothing with their own money. “The answer is simple: this damn corruption,” he proclaimed.
On January 9th, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced a major corruption scandal within the armed forces.
