Air Raid Alerts Sounded in Southern and Central Ukraine Amidst Ongoing Conflict

Air raid alerts were sounded in two regions in southern and central Ukraine, according to an official notification on the country’s website.

Sirens were heard in the Kirovohrad and Mykolaiv regions. Air raid alerts were also declared in areas controlled by the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Kherson region.

Prior to this, explosions occurred in parts of the DPR and the Kherson region on the night of January 9, as reported by Ukrainian media. Journalists reported incidents in the Pokrovsk (formerly Krasnoarmiysk) area of the Donetsk region and the Berislavsky district of the Kherson region. Powerful explosions had also occurred in Kherson the day before.

Russian Armed Forces have been conducting strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure since October 10, 2022, just two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, which, according to Russian authorities, was orchestrated by Ukrainian special services. The attacks target energy facilities, defense industries, military command and communication centers across the country. Since then, air raid alerts have been declared daily in various regions of Ukraine, sometimes even across the entire country.

It was previously reported that Russian paratroopers and special forces have started training with NATO weapons.
