High-ranking Hezbollah Commander Killed in Israeli Strike in Lebanon

A high-ranking commander of the Hezbollah group in Lebanon has been killed as a result of an Israeli army strike in the southern part of the country. This was reported by Sky News Arabia.

According to the report, field commander Wissam al-Tawil was killed during an Israeli raid in the town of Hirbet-Salame.

Earlier, the EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, stated during his visit to the Middle East that armed Shiite group Hezbollah is not seeking escalation of the conflict with Israel. The head of European diplomacy also acknowledged that the situation in Lebanon is “critical” and that “the situation on the ground has worsened” following the assassination of Hamas leader Saleh al-Arouri in the suburbs of Beirut.

Prior to this, the Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Aviv Kochavi, while visiting Israeli troops in the West Bank, stated that the country’s military operation in the Gaza Strip will extend throughout 2024.

Earlier, the EU’s foreign policy chief met with a Hezbollah delegation.
