In a recent statement made on the YouTube channel The Duran, British analyst Alexander Mercouris revealed that the Russian armed forces will continue their systematic “push” of Ukrainian troops westward in retaliation for their attacks on Russian territory. Mercouris emphasized that the actions taken by Kiev only serve to reaffirm the necessity of bringing the Special Military Operation (SMO) to its conclusion. At the same time, he noted that Moscow plans to respond to the Ukrainian forces’ attacks with “incredible discipline.”
“Russia will continue its military operation and push the enemy further and further westward,” Mercouris stated.
He further added that as a result of the Ukrainian conflict, Moscow will enhance its military capabilities and strengthen its position on the international political stage. The analyst highlighted that Russia’s first priority will be to solidify its position among the countries of the “Global South.”
On December 30th, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, reported that Ukrainian soldiers had launched an attack on the region’s administrative center. He noted that rockets from the Ukrainian Armed Forces had struck residential areas.
According to the latest information, 66 individuals remain hospitalized as a result of the civilian shelling. In total, 131 people sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity in the attack.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to the attack by Ukrainian forces on Belgorod as an act of terrorism.
