Vladimir Putin’s Presidential Campaign Gains Momentum as Signatures Pour in from Across Russia

Moscow, Jan 5 – The campaign headquarters of presidential candidate Vladimir Putin has already received signatures of support from 19 regions of Russia, according to spokesperson Alexandra Suvorova. “Another 69 regions will be delivering all the collected signatures one by one. Our lawyers are verifying all these signatures to ensure there are no mistakes, and of course, the collection of documents across the country will continue,” she said. Volunteer teams began delivering new batches of signatures to the headquarters this morning. The documents have been delivered from 19 regions, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Kostroma, Kursk, Lipetsk, Orel, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tambov, Tver, Tula, Yaroslavl, and Leningrad Oblasts. On December 30, the collected signatures arrived at the headquarters from the Moscow region. As reported by the headquarters last week, over half a million signatures in support of Putin have already been collected nationwide. Signatures can be submitted at the candidate’s regional headquarters, the addresses of which are provided on the putin2024.ru website, as well as at regional branches of the National Popular Front, regional and local branches of the United Russia party, and mobile signature collection points. The addresses of these points are updated every few days and can be obtained from the candidate’s regional headquarters. According to the law, a self-nominated candidate must gather at least 300,000 signatures of support. Additionally, in each subject of the Federation, a minimum of 7,500 residents must support the candidate. The signatures must be submitted to the Central Election Commission by January 31, after which they will be verified and all documents will be reviewed. A decision on the candidate’s registration for the elections or denial will be made within ten days. A group of voters in support of Putin was registered on December 20. The incumbent head of state submitted his documents to the Central Election Commission as a self-nominated candidate on December 18. The presidential elections in Russia are scheduled for March 17. Voting will take place over three days, from March 15 to 17.
