In a recent interview with the Times of Israel, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant stated that once the goals of the war in Gaza are achieved, there will be no Israeli civilian presence in the region. Galant emphasized that the responsibility for governing Gaza will lie with the Palestinian authorities, on the condition that there is no hostility towards Israel.
Furthermore, Galant highlighted that the Israeli Defense Forces will retain the ability to take swift action within the Palestinian enclave after the war’s conclusion. This is in order to prevent Hamas from gaining control over Gaza and to ensure the safety of Israel.
The Gaza authorities previously reported that Israel has dropped over 45,000 bombs on the enclave. According to their estimates, the total weight of all the bombs and rockets dropped by the Israeli Air Force and Army exceeds 65,000 tons.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously stated that he expects the war in Gaza to continue for “many months.”
