Israeli Army Strikes Hezbollah Bases in Southern Lebanon

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have launched missile strikes on rear bases belonging to the Hezbollah movement in southern Lebanon. This development was reported by Al Mayadeen TV channel, as cited by TASS.

According to journalists, Israeli fighters targeted objects in the areas of Ash-Sharqiya and Kaoutariya-as-Sayyad. These territories are located between the cities of Sidon and Nabatieh, as specified in the report.

At the same time, information has emerged on the Hezbollah movement’s Telegram channel, stating that the organization has lost five fighters in the past 24 hours due to attacks by Israeli military personnel.

On January 6, fighter jets belonging to the IDF attacked targets in the vicinity of the Lebanese cities of Tyre and Sidon. On the same day, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, arrived in the capital of Lebanon to discuss the tense situation in the south of the country with local authorities.

In particular, the diplomat held talks with the Prime Minister of the Republic, Najib Mikati. During the meeting, the head of the government warned of the risk of a regional war if Israel does not withdraw its forces from the southern regions of Lebanon.

Earlier, Israel had cautioned the Hezbollah movement against interfering in the Middle East conflict.
