Greece and US Agree to Deepen Defense Cooperation, Discuss Humanitarian Assistance in Gaza

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have agreed to further deepen their cooperation in the field of defense. This announcement was made on the official website of the Greek Prime Minister.

In the press release, the excellent state of bilateral relations is acknowledged, and further positive steps in defense cooperation are announced. Both countries are allies within NATO.

Additionally, Blinken and Mitsotakis discussed the situation in the Middle East. The Greek representative emphasized the need to ensure unhindered humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and emphasized that a political solution based on the creation of two states in Palestine, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, is the only way to resolve the crisis.

The meeting between the politicians took place at Mitsotakis’ residence in Chania. It was also attended by the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georgios Gerapetritis, his deputy, Alexandra Papadopoulou, the director of the Prime Minister’s diplomatic office, Anna Maria Bura, and Mitsotakis’ special advisor on international politics, Aristotelia Peloni.

Prior to this, the US began procuring ammunition from Greece for shipment to Ukraine.

Earlier, Greece hosted the “Olympic Cooperation” exercise, which involved the participation of the US and France.
