In a recent announcement made by Sevastopol’s governor, Mikhail Razvozhaev, it has been revealed that the air alarm has been canceled in the city. This comes after a series of attacks carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) on the Crimean Peninsula. The Ministry of Defense has reported that Russian air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 10 Ukrainian guided missiles in the region.
Governor Razvozhaev has stated that fragments from the downed aerial targets fell onto a residential building on Glukhova Street, resulting in injuries to one resident. Additionally, fragments were found in the areas of Mostovaya Street, the North Side, Monastyrskoye Highway, and Fedyukhinye Heights.
On December 31st, Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev had urged the residents of Sevastopol to stay indoors during the New Year’s Eve celebrations. He advised them to refrain from venturing into open spaces as there were potential missile attacks from Ukraine.
This is not the first time Sevastopol has experienced air alarms, as two were previously announced during the day. The first alarm lasted for 20 minutes, while the second lasted for 14 minutes.
In a prior incident, threats of retaliation against Russia were made in President Zelensky’s office following explosions in Ukraine.
The situation in Sevastopol remains tense as both sides continue to engage in military actions. The cancelation of the air alarm provides temporary relief for the residents, but the potential for further attacks looms over the region.
