NATO’s Increased Activity in Ukraine Possible, Says Russian Official

In an interview with Lenta.ru, Dmitry Novikov, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, commented on the statement made by retired British Army Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, suggesting that NATO could deploy troops to Ukraine and engage in a full-scale war with Russia.

Novikov emphasized that the term “hybrid warfare” is not accidental when referring to modern conflicts. He explained that these wars combine various elements, such as financial, economic, and ideological-political aspects. In the Ukrainian situation, all these types of warfare are clearly visible.

According to Novikov, if we consider a more active involvement of the North Atlantic Alliance in the conflict in Ukraine, the bloc’s initial goals of creating a hotspot of tension in Eastern Europe and weakening the Russian Federation within NATO will not be revised in the near future.

The deputy believes that NATO’s participation will primarily involve financing the Zelensky regime and supplying more modern weaponry. He also mentioned that NATO has other means of assisting Ukraine, including providing intelligence and space information, as well as other forms of increased activity.

Previously, the Pentagon revealed the amount of weapons supplied to Ukraine since the beginning of the operation. However, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold and whether NATO’s involvement will escalate further tensions in the region.
