Iranian Leader Calls for Restraint Amidst Terrorist Attack in Kerman

Following a recent terrorist attack in the Iranian city of Kerman, Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, has urged military commanders to avoid direct military confrontation with the United States. Instead, he has ordered limited retaliatory actions against Israel and attacks by proxy groups on US bases. This comes as tensions between Iran and the US continue to escalate, with the New York Times reporting on Khamenei’s call for “strategic patience” to prevent Iran from getting directly involved in a military conflict with the US.

The article highlights that Khamenei has instructed military personnel to limit their retaliatory actions to covert operations against Israel or proxy attacks on US bases in Syria and Iraq. Sources suggest that the Supreme Leader considers the attacks in Iran and Lebanon as part of Israel’s campaign.

Previously, the White House representative had stated that the explosions in Kerman, which occurred during a funeral procession for the late General Qasem Soleimani, appeared to be the work of the terrorist group “Islamic State” (an organization banned in Russia).

Earlier, the US had accused Iran of preparing attacks by Houthi rebels on merchant ships in the Red Sea.
