In a recent report by the Russian Ministry of Defense, it has been revealed that every day, more than 1500 Russian citizens submit applications to join the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This surge in recruitment comes as Russia continues to bolster its military capabilities.
According to the data provided by the ministry, last year alone, the Russian Armed Forces welcomed 490,000 servicemen under contract and volunteers. In total, over 650,000 soldiers have participated in special military operations in Ukraine during the years 2022 and 2023.
Additionally, more than 4,000 Russian students have voluntarily taken academic leave to fulfill combat tasks in the Eastern Military District. This shows the dedication and commitment of young Russians towards serving their country.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also announced the formation of two combined-arms armies, a mixed aviation corps, and 50 units and military formations, including four divisions, 18 brigades, and 28 regiments in 2023.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that the autumn draft for compulsory military service in the Russian army concluded in late December of the previous year. Approximately 130,000 individuals were called to serve, according to the defense ministry.
