Former Head of Ministry of Internal Affairs in Yekaterinburg Posthumously Awarded Medal for Participation in Special Military Operation

The late Igor Trifonov, former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Yekaterinburg, has been posthumously honored with the Medal of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for his involvement in a special military operation. This recognition was announced by his lawyer, Olga Kezik, who confirmed the news to Ura.ru.

Trifonov’s contribution to the operation was recognized after his passing. The details of his funeral arrangements are yet to be finalized, but there is a possibility that the ceremony will be held in Moscow, where his family currently resides.

The circumstances surrounding Trifonov’s demise reveal that he lost his life during a Russian special military operation. This comes after his conviction and sentencing to 9.5 years in prison for accepting a substantial bribe and engaging in the illegal acquisition of ammunition.

Trifonov’s arrest took place in Moscow back in 2019. The investigation revealed that in 2015, he accepted a bribe of 7.5 million rubles from Oleg Konoplev, the former deputy head of “Koltso Urala” bank, in exchange for his assistance in initiating a criminal case against one of the banker’s debtors. As a result, Trifonov was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison.

In a separate development, Ukrainian actor Oleg Ivanitsa, who has joined the Ukrainian armed forces, has called for the abandonment of the idea of capturing Crimea.
