Florida GOP Chairman, Christian Ziegler, is currently under investigation by the police for an alleged sexual assault and video voyeurism. The investigation was initiated after the state’s largest police union endorsed Governor Ron DeSantis for president. Detectives are now examining whether Ziegler secretly recorded the victim during the sexual encounter.
According to police records, Ziegler is accused of raping a woman with whom he had a prior consensual sexual relationship. The incident took place on October 2, when Ziegler and his wife, Bridget Ziegler, had planned a sexual encounter with the accuser. However, Bridget Ziegler was unable to attend, and Christian Ziegler allegedly assaulted the woman without her consent.
The encounter was reported to the police two days later, and Ziegler has not been charged with a crime. He maintains his innocence, claiming that the encounter was consensual. In a recent interview with detectives, Ziegler mentioned the existence of a video recording, which he initially deleted but later recovered.
A search warrant was issued, granting access to Ziegler’s Instagram account. Ziegler’s attorney revealed that the alleged victim had asked if he had shown the video to his wife in a message sent using “vanish mode.” However, both the victim and Bridget Ziegler denied any knowledge of the video or having seen it.
Video voyeurism is considered a third-degree felony in Florida, involving the unauthorized recording of someone in a private setting without their consent. The law applies to situations where the individual has a reasonable expectation of privacy while dressing, undressing, or privately exposing their body. It is intended to prevent the abuse and degradation of others for personal gain or gratification.
At present, no charges have been filed against Ziegler regarding the alleged video voyeurism. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
