Israeli Air Force Strikes Suburbs of Damascus, Syrian Defense Ministry Reports

The Israeli army has conducted an airstrike on the suburbs of Damascus, according to a statement released by the Syrian Ministry of Defense. The announcement was published on the ministry’s website.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense stated, “The Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.” The ministry pointed out that the strikes on positions in the suburbs of Damascus took place on January 2nd at approximately 4:35 am (Moscow time). The ministry’s report also mentioned that the attack caused material damage.

On December 29th, Israel conducted strikes on positions in southern Syria. According to a spokesperson from the Syrian military command, the air defense systems responded and successfully intercepted most of the missiles. The spokesperson clarified that there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the attack, but some damages were recorded.

The day before, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that Syrian air defense systems were fending off an Israeli missile attack on Damascus.

Earlier, Medvedev mentioned the possibility of a century-long war in the Middle East.
