Russian Defense Ministry Announces Destruction of Unmanned Ukrainian Naval Vessel in the Black Sea

The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported the discovery and destruction of an unmanned Ukrainian naval vessel in the northwestern part of the Black Sea. According to a statement released on the ministry’s Telegram channel, the vessel was detected heading towards the Crimean Peninsula on December 30th at approximately 10:00 am Moscow time.

The ministry further specified that the target was destroyed using the standard armament of a patrol vessel from the Black Sea Fleet. This incident follows a report on December 25th, which stated that a Be-12 amphibious anti-submarine aircraft had conducted training bombing runs on a maritime target while searching for unmanned Ukrainian vessels in the Black Sea.

On the same day, it was also reported that Russian forces had destroyed one of the few remaining Ukrainian small armored artillery boats, the “Gyurza-M,” near Ochakov in the waters of the Beresan Liman. The incident involved a Russian kamikaze drone, known as the “Lancet,” which detected and attacked the Ukrainian vessel.

Earlier, a military expert had discussed the objectives of Russian naval drones in the area of the Sea of Azov.
