Russian President Putin praises capture of Marinka, signals further advancements

Russian President Vladimir Putin has commented on the capture of Marinka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), stating that the Russian Armed Forces now have the opportunity to advance further. According to RIA Novosti, Putin also expressed that the participants in the capture of Marinka deserve to receive state awards.

Furthermore, Putin instructed to award the title of major to Commander Troshev, who was involved in the seizure of the city.

On the evening of Monday, December 25th, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu informed President Vladimir Putin during their meeting that Russian troops have taken full control of Marinka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

On December 21st, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that a unit of Russian paratroopers had gained control of a strategic point of the Ukrainian Armed Forces northwest of Artemivsk. Prior to this, military expert and Director of the Museum of Anti-Aircraft Defense Forces, Yuri Knutov, stated that Avdiivka, Marinka, and Artemivsk had become some of the most challenging directions for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Earlier, The New York Times reported that Russia had intercepted the initiative on the front lines.
