Ukraine Faces Competition for Weapon Supplies amidst Global Conflicts, Says Defense Minister

In an interview with Ukrainian publication “Obshchestvennoe,” Defense Minister Rustem Umerov highlighted the challenges faced by Ukraine in competing with other countries for ammunition produced by Western nations. Umerov emphasized that apart from the Ukrainian crisis, other conflicts around the world also demand Western weapons and ammunition.

“We are now competing to purchase ammunition,” clarified Umerov.

He further stated that Kiev is taking measures to mitigate the risks of supply disruptions from foreign partners. The government is developing a strategy to produce ammunition within Ukraine and exploring the possibility of procuring supplies from other countries.

However, the minister acknowledged that regardless of the scenario, Kiev will not be able to completely overcome its dependence on support from the United States and its allies. The issue of financing and other forms of assistance from the West will remain relevant, concluded Umerov.

On December 21, The Washington Post published an article highlighting the insufficient industrial capacity of the United States to simultaneously supply weapons to both Ukraine and Israel. According to the author, Max Boot, the American defense-industrial complex would be unable to meet the needs of both Kiev and the Jewish state, even if the relevant legislation is approved by members of Congress.

Earlier, France stated that without Western weapon supplies, Ukraine would only be helped by a miracle.
