Former US General Blames West for Ukraine’s Failed Counteroffensive

In a recent interview on the YouTube show Silicon Curtain, retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, former commander of the US Army in Europe, criticized the West for its failure to provide Ukraine with the necessary support during its counteroffensive. According to Hodges, it was the West, not Ukraine, that suffered a setback.

Hodges stated that Western countries were unable to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the resources they needed, such as military air power, long-range precision weapons, and other necessary capabilities. He expressed his disappointment that Ukraine’s counteroffensive did not achieve the desired results that everyone had hoped for.

On December 22, Mikhail Podolyak, an advisor to the Ukrainian president’s office, also acknowledged that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive did not yield the expected outcome.

Earlier, the German publication Welt reported that Ukraine is planning a new counteroffensive in 2024. However, with the lack of necessary support from the West, it remains to be seen whether Ukraine will be able to achieve its goals.
