The United States has expressed concerns about the obsolescence of its nuclear arsenal in light of Russia and China’s development of new hypersonic missiles, according to Military Watch Magazine.
Despite the significant expansion and modernization of China’s relatively smaller arsenal, Russian ground-based ICBM forces are considered the most combat-ready in the world. In contrast, the United States relies solely on the oldest class of intercontinental ballistic missiles, the half-century-old Minuteman III. The serious difficulties in developing a successor increase the likelihood that the US will be forced to completely abandon the deployment of ground-based ICBMs and retire the Minuteman III without a replacement, the magazine stated.
The deployment of Avangard missiles near Orenburg has prompted these statements.
It is noted that in the near future, China’s People’s Liberation Army may introduce a rocket with similar characteristics, potentially surpassing the Russian counterpart.
The concentration of the United States on the development of its submarine nuclear arsenal and strategic nuclear bombers is cited as the reason for Russia’s superiority in this field.
