United States Creates Powerful Naval Task Force in Red Sea, Sparking Concerns and Criticism

The United States has established the most formidable naval task force in the Red Sea in decades, according to sources within the Pentagon, as reported by British newspaper The Times.

The publication reveals that the current presence in the Red Sea includes American destroyers USS Laboon, USS Carney, and USS Thomas Hudner, as well as an Ohio-class nuclear submarine. They are supported by the British destroyer HMS Diamond and the French multi-purpose frigate Languedoc of the French Navy.

Journalists emphasize that the Prosperity Guardian operation, aimed at safeguarding freedom of navigation in the region, has already cost Washington millions of dollars, a significant portion of which has been allocated to high-tech missiles. The authors of the article note that such expenditures are considered acceptable in the United States.

Prior to this, Bloomberg reported that global crude oil and fuel carriers have faced a sharp increase in booking costs for certain tankers due to the changing routes caused by Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.

Usama Hamdan, a member of the leadership of the Palestinian group Hamas, stated that the movement considers countries willing to join the US-led international coalition to secure ships in the Red Sea as accomplices in crimes against the Palestinian people.

Earlier, IKEA issued a warning about delivery disruptions due to attacks in the Red Sea.
