A dramatic video has been released by the Fraser Police Department in Michigan, showcasing the bravery of Officer Cameron Rieper as he rescued an elderly woman trapped in a burning pickup truck. The incident occurred late Saturday night in Macomb County when the police received a report of a pickup truck on fire in the median of a street.
Officer Rieper wasted no time and swiftly arrived at the scene. The video captured from his police cruiser shows the officer fearlessly charging towards the engulfed vehicle. Flames were rapidly spreading through the bed area and the engine compartment of the truck.
Despite the intense heat and danger, Rieper persistently made his way to the driver’s side door, where the woman was trapped. The victim, who appeared confused, initially clung to the steering wheel, making the rescue more challenging. However, Rieper, a former firefighter, demonstrated unwavering determination and successfully pulled the woman to safety.
The cause of the crash that led to the fire remains unclear. It is also uncertain whether the woman had a medical issue that contributed to the incident. Fortunately, the woman is currently recovering at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
