Trump Leading Biden Among Young Voters, Poll Reveals

Contributor Karl Rove Joins “America’s Newsroom” to Discuss the Latest on the Race for the White House as President Biden Struggles in the Polls

In a recent poll, former President Donald Trump is shown to be leading President Biden among young voters by a 13-point margin, signaling potential challenges for Biden’s re-election bid in 2024. The poll, conducted by an independent organization, surveyed 1,007 registered voters randomly selected between December 10 and December 13.

According to the poll results, 41% of respondents under the age of 30 expressed their intention to vote for Trump in the 2024 general election, while only 28% stated they would vote for Biden. Similarly, among voters under 45 years old, 41% favored Trump, while 31% would cast their vote for Biden. Even among women voters, Trump holds a lead with 41% support compared to Biden’s 34%.

These findings come at a time when the Trump campaign is actively targeting young voters and expanding its support among GOP voters. Trump’s recent visit to the University of New Hampshire allowed him to address critical issues such as Biden’s handling of the economy and the ongoing migrant crisis at the southern border. Some young voters, as reported by USA Today, agreed that these issues were important factors to consider in the upcoming 2024 election.

Notably, Trump’s support within the Republican presidential nomination contest has significantly grown. The survey reveals that less than one third of GOP primary voters now back all of Trump’s rivals combined. Trump’s support in the primary race stands at 69%, a seven-point increase since November and a 26-point increase since February. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis follows with 12% support, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley with 9%, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy at 5%, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie at 2%, and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson with 1%.

In hypothetical general election matchups against Biden, Haley leads by six points, while Trump maintains a four-point advantage (though neither lead is statistically significant). DeSantis and Biden are tied, indicating a shift in voter preferences compared to August when Biden was narrowly ahead.

The poll, conducted by Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research, has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points for all registered voters, plus or minus 4.5 points for Democrat primary voters, and 5 points for Republican primary voters.

As the 2024 campaign trail unfolds, it will be crucial to monitor the evolving dynamics of voter preferences and the strategies employed by each candidate.
