Russian Foreign Minister Claims NATO Soldiers are Involved in the War in Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, recently stated in an interview on the program “Big Game” on Channel One that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reason to believe that NATO soldiers are participating in the military actions in Ukraine.

Lavrov emphasized that in addition to the presence of mercenaries, there are grounds to believe that regular military personnel from NATO countries are fighting in Ukraine.

On December 18th, Lavrov also commented on the admission of the Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, regarding his cooperation with American special operation forces. Lavrov stated that this admission demonstrates the lack of sovereignty of Kiev.

Prior to this, it was reported that the West is considering the option of freezing the conflict in Ukraine. According to political analysts from the British newspaper Financial Times, this could be an alternative to an official agreement between Moscow and Kiev. Under such a scenario, Ukraine would mainly assume a defensive position and deter further Russian advancement.

Earlier, Borrell stated that withholding military assistance to Ukraine will not lead to peace.
