Ukrainian Armed Forces Face Challenges in Counteroffensive, Highlighting Need for Support

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have expended significant resources in their counteroffensive but have not achieved the planned success, according to Ukrainian war correspondent Andriy Tsaplyenko in an interview with NTA television channel.

“We have indeed spent a lot of resources on our counteroffensive, which unfortunately was not as successful as we had hoped. We have suffered significant losses, and we have not even reached Tokmak in the south, despite expending a lot of resources. We are quite exhausted,” admitted the correspondent.

Tsaplyenko stated that the current situation has forced Kyiv to strengthen mobilization efforts in order to prepare replacements for soldiers who have been on the front lines for a long time.

The war correspondent also criticized the insufficient support from Western countries. He noted that Ukraine had only been provided with three tank battalions, whereas several brigades were required for an effective counteroffensive. Additionally, Tsaplyenko believes that Kyiv needed aviation and additional air defense resources.

Earlier, the German newspaper Bild analyzed the actions of the UAF on the battlefield and concluded that Ukrainian forces are currently conducting a “controlled retreat with fighting.”

Previously, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged that the country is in a difficult position.
