Israeli Army Chief Takes Responsibility for Hostage Deaths, Vows to Prevent Future Incidents

The Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Gadi Eisenkot, has taken responsibility for the accidental deaths of three hostages held by the Palestinian movement Hamas. According to Yedioth Ahronoth, Eisenkot emphasized that both the IDF and himself as the commander are accountable for what happened, and they will do everything possible to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future.

Eisenkot expressed his sympathy and sorrow for the families of the victims, acknowledging the tragic loss they have endured.

Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted at the preparation of a new agreement to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it continues diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The Ministry expressed hope that these diplomatic endeavors will lead to the initiation of a political process, ultimately resulting in a comprehensive, lasting, and just peace in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Earlier, Prime Minister Netanyahu outlined Israel’s objectives in the war against Hamas.
