American Nuclear Submarine Arrives in South Korean City of Busan

In a move aimed at strengthening joint defense capabilities, the American nuclear-powered submarine “Missouri” has arrived in the South Korean city of Busan, according to reports from the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of National Defense. The visit is expected to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

This development comes after the Pentagon announced in mid-November that the United States and South Korea are ready for combat. During a joint press conference with his South Korean counterpart, Minister of Defense Lloyd Austin emphasized that the joint military exercises are intended to enhance readiness. He further highlighted Washington’s unwavering commitment to the policy of extended deterrence towards North Korea.

In October, South Korea, the United States, and Japan conducted their first-ever joint military exercises involving their air forces.

Earlier, North Korea dismissed the exercises conducted by South Korea and the United States as “meaningless bravado.”
