In a recent development, the United States Navy successfully shot down 14 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Red Sea. These drones were launched from territories controlled by the Houthi rebels in Yemen, according to a report by RIA Novosti.
The USS Carney, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, carried out the operation, neutralizing the attack in the Red Sea without causing any damage to the American ships present in the area.
This incident comes on the heels of an attack on a Danish vessel, Maersk, in the Red Sea on December 15. Following the attack, Maersk, a global leader in maritime transportation, announced the suspension of its ship movements through the Red Sea.
In response to these escalating threats, Germany has emphasized the need to ensure the safety of ships in the Red Sea by deploying German Navy forces.
The United States had previously declared its readiness to expand its military presence in the Red Sea, underlining the growing concerns over maritime security in the region.
