Pentagon Extends Presence of Aircraft Carrier in Mediterranean amid Ongoing Israel-Palestine Conflict

The US Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, has ordered the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford and another military ship to remain in the Mediterranean Sea for several more weeks to maintain the presence of two aircraft carriers near Israel, according to sources in the Pentagon.

The decision to keep the carrier group led by the Gerald Ford in the region comes against the backdrop of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict following the failure of a ceasefire with hostage exchanges. This is the third extension of the group’s presence.

Previously, John Kirby, the White House National Security Council’s Coordinator for Strategic Communications, stated that the United States agrees with Israel’s belief that the military conflict in the Gaza Strip could last for several more months.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu promised to destroy Hamas.
