Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers and Chinese H-6K bombers of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) have conducted a joint aerial patrol in the Asia-Pacific region. This was announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
According to the ministry, the aviation group conducted aerial inspections of the waters of the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea.
“Foreign state fighters accompanied the strategic bombers on some parts of the route,” the Ministry of Defense said.
They noted that the flights were carried out as part of the military cooperation plan for 2023, which is “not directed against third countries.”
The statement further stated that during the mission, the pilots of both countries strictly adhered to the provisions of international law and did not violate the airspace of other states.
At the end of the joint mission, all aircraft involved returned to their respective bases, according to the ministry.
It was previously reported that US fighters intercepted two Russian Tu-95 bombers in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
Earlier, a military expert had stated that the Tu-95 would become twice as effective.
