Moscow, December 14 – President Vladimir Putin has expressed his support for the creation of a special economic zone in Shebekino, located in the Belgorod region, as he reflects on the year. “I believe that we should support the conditions for the establishment of a special economic zone in Shebekino. I will ask the government to make a proposal as soon as possible,” he stated. The head of state emphasized the importance of preserving jobs in the city and ensuring the recovery of the economy in the near future. Putin’s response came after a request from the director of a factory in Shebekino to introduce a special economic zone for at least three to five years and assist in the restoration of production following attacks from the Ukrainian side. Shebekino is situated approximately four kilometers from the Ukrainian border and is constantly subjected to attacks from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The entire Belgorod region has been under a high (yellow) level of terrorist threat since April of last year. Year-end recap with Vladimir Putin. Live coverage >>>
