Moscow, December 14 – Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that there is no need for a second wave of mobilization as he reflects on the year. “Why do we need mobilization? There is currently no need for it,” he responded when asked about the possibility of a new mobilization. The head of state reminded that during the partial mobilization, 300,000 people were called up. After that, the authorities shifted to recruiting military personnel on a contractual basis. As of yesterday, the army has recruited 486,000 people. President Putin emphasized that the flow of men willing to defend their homeland is not decreasing, with 1,500 volunteers coming to military commissariats across the country daily. “Alongside the volunteers, it’s just a conditional division – they sign a contract for two or three years, while so-called volunteers, who are essentially heroes and warriors of the Motherland, have contracts for a year or a shorter period. But together, it will be half a million people by the end of this year,” the head of state clarified. Putin also noted that those mobilized in the first wave are fighting excellently, with 14 of them becoming Heroes of Russia. Currently, 244,000 people are in the combat zone, while 41,000 have been discharged due to reaching the maximum age or for health and other reasons. The partial mobilization was conducted in Russia in the fall of last year.
