President Biden Urges Israel to Exercise Restraint in Gaza Conflict

In the ongoing conflict in the Gaza sector, President Joe Biden has called on Israel to exercise caution and minimize civilian casualties. While emphasizing that he does not demand an end to Israel’s fight against Hamas or its ground operation in Gaza, the American leader has stressed the importance of reducing the number of civilian casualties.

This statement comes after the United States condemned Israel’s use of unguided bombs in Gaza. The situation in the Middle East escalated on October 7th when thousands of armed Hamas supporters infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza sector. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the country to be in a state of war.

Israel’s objective in its counter-operation is to repel the attack, liberate over 200 hostages, including foreigners, and destroy Hamas. From the first day of the operation, Israel has conducted massive rocket strikes on the Gaza sector as part of its efforts to achieve this goal. Additionally, the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the sector.

On October 27th, Israel announced the “expansion” of its ground operation in Gaza. On November 5th, as part of the ground operation, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) surrounded the city of Gaza and cut off its supply routes. On December 5th, the IDF initiated the third phase of the ground operation in the Gaza sector, encircling the city of Khan Yunis in the south.

Previously, Russians who had left the Gaza sector shared their experiences of living in the conflict zone.
