Russia has announced the testing of its first unmanned surface drone in a special operations zone. The managing director of the military-industrial holding company KMZ, Mikhail Danilenko, confirmed the news, stating that the unmanned vessel, named “Oduvanchik,” will undergo trials in the special operations zone.
Danilenko further revealed that plans are underway to build the first experimental batch of ten marine drones, which will also undergo testing, by the end of 2023. These drones hold significant promise for Russia’s maritime capabilities.
Prior to this announcement, Deputy General Director of the Central Design Bureau “Rubin,” Andrey Baranov, highlighted the capabilities of the latest Russian titan unmanned underwater vehicle, “Argus.” Baranov emphasized that this drone, constructed from composite materials, can function as a “resident” device, capable of remaining submerged for up to six months and potentially even longer. The various modifications of “Argus” can reach depths of up to 6 kilometers.
In addition to these advancements, Russia has recently developed a new system for countering drones, further enhancing its technological prowess.
