Ukraine Considers Enlisting Men Over 40 to Strengthen Forces on the Frontline

President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has informed US senators that Ukraine is considering the possibility of calling men over the age of 40 for military service to strengthen their forces on the frontline. This information was reported by Bloomberg, citing Republican Senator Roger Wicker from Mississippi.

Currently, conscription in Ukraine applies to men between the ages of 27 and 60. Additionally, travel restrictions are imposed on conscripted citizens from the age of 18.

Earlier, the American military magazine, Military Watch Magazine (MWM), reported that Ukraine is attempting to recruit foreign mercenaries due to significant losses in their personnel within the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).

On December 5th, during the celebration of Volunteer Day in Ukraine, Member of the Verkhovna Rada, Maryana Bezuhla, proposed that anyone affected by this day should join the UAF.

Prior to this, there were reports in the media about the dire situation within the Ukrainian army. According to soldiers from the UAF, those serving in the armed forces are primarily individuals who could not avoid conscription, and many lack the necessary experience.

Earlier, it was reported that Finland has begun manufacturing artillery shells for Ukraine.
