Russian Deputy Prime Minister Highlights Importance of Youth Education on Justice and Military Operations

In a recent meeting with students and schoolchildren ahead of Constitution Day, Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, emphasized the significance of young people gaining knowledge about justice from participants of special military operations. Medvedev expressed his concern that most teenagers today only learn about the Great Patriotic War (World War II) from books, movies, and internet sources, lacking personal interaction and firsthand experiences.

He stated, “We have a different problem and concern now. It is our conflict [in Ukraine]. A large number of our young people are fighting for our country, defending it. And now they will be able to share new knowledge about justice.”

Medvedev also mentioned that residents of Sevastopol and the Chechen Republic are the most active in joining the military service on a contractual basis. Additionally, he announced the increase in the number of armed forces in Russia to ensure the effective defense of independence, security, and sovereignty.

Earlier this year, Medvedev revealed that 357,000 individuals had been accepted into the Russian Armed Forces, including reservists and volunteers. While the mobilization was ruled out last week, discussions in the State Duma in September suggested that Russia needed around 500,000 contracted servicemen.

This statement by Medvedev follows his previous address to parliament regarding the issues faced by Russian citizens.
