In a recent development, House Republicans have expressed concerns over the Department of Justice allegedly obstructing their investigation into Hunter Biden. The focus of their concerns is Michael Hochman, a White House aide who has spent almost two decades at a Delaware law firm associated with corporate entities tied to Hunter Biden, his business associates, and other members of the Biden family.
Hochman, who previously co-founded the law firm in 1970 with Joe Biden before his Senate career, has held multiple positions in the Biden administration. He currently serves in the newly created Office of the National Cyber Director, which advises President Biden on cybersecurity policy and strategy. Republicans are particularly interested in Hochman’s past work at the law firm and his communications with Hunter Biden as they continue their investigation into Hunter’s foreign business dealings.
A digital review has found several emails between Hochman and Hunter during the Obama-Biden administration, as well as numerous Biden-linked corporate entities registered through the law firm. Hochman’s firm has served as the registered agent for these entities, including Owasco LLC, Rosemont Seneca Advisors, and Robinson Walker LLC, which is owned by Hunter’s former business partner Rob Walker. The review also revealed that members of the Biden family received over $1 million in payments from accounts related to Walker’s LLC and their Chinese business ventures.
Furthermore, the law firm has been involved in setting up S-corporations for Joe and Jill Biden, as well as acting as a registered agent for multiple Biden campaign committees and other Biden family-related entities. Republicans view these connections as evidence of a corrupt influence-peddling scheme involving the Bidens.
House GOP Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York stated, “I have said for months that the Bidens’ corrupt influence-peddling scheme will go down as the greatest political scandal of our lifetime, and likely in the history of the country.” Stefanik’s comment comes as House Republicans appear poised to move forward with an impeachment inquiry against President Biden for alleged corruption charges.
Hochman’s close ties to the Bidens extend beyond his professional relationship with Hunter. He has visited Biden’s vice presidential residence for holiday parties and has been involved in various legal services for Hunter and his business partner Eric Schwerin. Hochman’s law firm also has a partner, Melvyn Monzack, who has been a longtime friend of the Biden family and was instrumental in facilitating an agreement between the Bidens and the University of Delaware for Biden’s “Senate papers.”
The revelation of Hochman’s involvement in the Biden administration and his connections to Hunter Biden’s business dealings has raised concerns among Republicans about transparency and accountability within the government. While President Biden has dismissed questions about his conversations with Hunter’s business partners as “lies,” recent polling suggests that a significant number of Americans, including Democrats, believe Biden acted unethically or illegally in relation to his family’s business interests.
In addition to the ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden, he now faces another indictment in California for allegedly not paying federal income taxes and filing false tax reports. The charges, which include three felonies and six misdemeanors, stem from a “four-year scheme” where Hunter allegedly owed $1.4 million in taxes.
