Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant has declared that Hamas is teetering on the edge of collapse in the Gaza Strip. In a video statement, Galant announced that Israeli forces are dismantling the last strongholds of Hamas in the areas of Jabalia and Shuja’iyya, significantly weakening the group. Galant emphasized that the Israeli military is approaching a critical turning point in the conflict.
Furthermore, Galant highlighted that among the surrendered Hamas fighters in Gaza, there were individuals who had participated in the attack on Israel on October 7th. He underscored that in recent days, hundreds of Palestinian militants from the radical movement have surrendered to Israeli soldiers. The Defense Minister urged battalion commanders to encourage their fighters to do the same in order to save their lives.
On December 11th, it was reported that four EU countries, namely Ireland, Spain, Malta, and Belgium, intend to push for a ceasefire in Gaza. This development follows previous statements from the United Nations, stating that the Israeli Defense Forces have evacuated dozens of men from Gaza.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to eliminate Hamas, solidifying the determination of the Israeli government to dismantle the group.
