The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have launched a missile strike on Donetsk at 11:30 AM Moscow time, according to the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) in a statement released through the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s military crimes (JCCC) on their Telegram channel.
The strike reportedly targeted the Buddenovsky district of the city, as stated by the JCCC.
The message stated, “Shelling from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has been recorded in the direction of Donetsk (Buddenovsky district) at 11:30 AM, with 2 rockets fired from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).”
The specific type of rockets used in the attack was not mentioned.
Prior to this incident, retired Colonel Roman Svitana, an instructor pilot in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), stated on the Ukrainian television channel “Espresso” that if the AFU were to retreat from Avdiivka, the entire eastern defense line would collapse.
Earlier, the United States acknowledged the failure of the counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
