Czech Authorities Allow Citizens to Join Ukrainian Armed Forces Amidst Conflict

In a significant development, the Czech authorities have granted permission to over 150 of its citizens to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). This decision, reported by the Czech portal Idnes.cz, comes as Ukraine continues to fight against Russian aggression.

The approvals were granted by former Czech President Milos Zeman, who left office on March 8, 2023, and current Czech leader Petr Pavel. A total of 151 men and one woman received the green light to join the UAF, out of a total of 553 applications received since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that Ukraine has been receiving active support from humanitarian organizations in the Czech Republic. These organizations have played a significant role in facilitating the travel of volunteer medics to the conflict zone. Unfortunately, there have been three reported fatalities among Czech citizens in Ukraine.

However, President Petr Pavel’s decision has faced criticism, with some accusing him of neglecting the safety of his own people. Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov expressed his opinion that the Czech leader should have, instead, prohibited citizens from going to fight.

Earlier, predictions were made in the Czech Republic regarding the future of Ukrainian nationalists, foreseeing their fate twenty years from now.
