In a recent announcement, the Russian Ministry of Defense revealed that 55 servicemen from the Airborne Troops have been awarded the prestigious title of Hero of the Russian Federation for their involvement in the special military operation in Ukraine. Additionally, 36 soldiers have been decorated with three Orders of Courage during the operation. This brings the total number of awards presented to members of the Airborne Troops since February 24, 2022, to over 42,000.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the paratroopers have dutifully fulfilled all assigned tasks in the special operation, highlighting their commitment and bravery. It should be noted that prior to this, Russian paratroopers successfully destroyed two enemy radar stations and a mobile communication station on the right bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region, utilizing unmanned aerial vehicles known as “Lancet.”
The reconnaissance drones operated by the paratroopers detected a radar station (RLS) ST-68 of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which was being transported along a route in the enemy’s rear area. This discovery further underscores the effectiveness of the Russian military’s capabilities in utilizing FPV drones, as previously acknowledged by the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
