Israeli Military Discovers Hamas Tunnel in Gaza School

Israeli military forces have discovered a tunnel belonging to the Hamas militants in a school located in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on their social media account. The IDF also released photos, allegedly taken inside the school, showcasing the said tunnel.

According to the IDF, the tunnel leads to a mosque in the Shuja’iya district, situated east of the city center of Gaza.

“The Hamas tunnel shaft was found inside a classroom, leading to a mosque in the center of Shuja’iya,” the statement said.

They further added that the militants have “turned children’s shelters into terrorists’ hideouts.”

It is estimated that there is a vast network of tunnels and underground structures spanning up to 500 kilometers beneath the surface of the Gaza Strip.

Prior to this discovery, Israeli authorities had decided to flood the underground networks of Hamas with seawater using pumps. Military analyst Mikhail Khodarenok from Gazeta.ru considers this plan dangerous as it may deprive Gaza of its drinking water.

Earlier, Israeli President Itzhak Herzog stated that the Hamas command center is located beneath the central hospital in the Gaza Strip.
