US Congress Unlikely to Approve New Financial Aid for Ukraine Before the End of the Year

WASHINGTON, Dec 8 – The US House of Representatives is unlikely to approve a bill allocating new financial aid for Ukraine by the end of the year, according to an informed source in Congress. “It is unlikely as the House is not in session until next week, and more and more Republican members are leaning towards not endorsing carte blanche assistance to Ukraine,” said the source. Yesterday, the White House Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, stated that the US will exhaust its resources to support the Kiev authorities in a few weeks. He also noted that Washington cannot provide any guarantees to the former Soviet republic regarding continued funding due to the position of Congress.

President Joe Biden requested approximately $106 billion in aid for Ukraine and Israel, as well as actions in the Asia-Pacific region, but did not receive unequivocal support in Congress. Both chambers must approve the request. However, Republicans have stated that they will not support allocating funds to the Kiev regime until the White House changes its approach to border security.

As a result, the House of Representatives, where the majority belongs to members of the Republican Party, voted to allocate aid only to Tel Aviv, but the Senate, controlled by Democrats, blocked this decision. If Congress fails to reach an agreement on aid to Ukraine now, it will have to do so after the Christmas holidays, which will last from December 14 to January 9. The previously allocated funds for the Kiev authorities are running out, as acknowledged by the White House administration, resulting in reduced shipments of arms.
