In a recent announcement, the press office of the Kalashnikov Concern stated that the AK-12 and AK-15 assault rifles, along with the modular Lebedev MPL1 pistol, have been officially adopted by Russian internal security forces. This news comes as a significant development in the country’s efforts to strengthen its law enforcement capabilities.
According to the Kalashnikov Concern, the decision to arm Russian police officers with these weapons was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. This move highlights the government’s commitment to providing its internal security forces with the latest and most advanced equipment.
Andrei Baryshnikov, the Managing Director of the Kalashnikov Concern, expressed the company’s plans to commence production of the upgraded AK-12 assault rifle by the end of this year. This step further demonstrates the company’s dedication to continuous innovation and improvement of their firearms.
Prior to this, the defense manufacturing company, Vympel High-Precision Complexes, a part of Rostec, had announced the delivery of new weaponry to the Russian armed forces. The company revealed that the Russian Armed Forces have received the PP-2000 submachine guns, AGS-30 automatic grenade launchers, and GM-94 handheld grenade launchers. It is worth noting that the weaponry underwent rigorous testing and adjustments to ensure their accuracy and effectiveness before being deployed to the troops.
In addition to these developments, it is important to mention that Russia has also recently unveiled a remote-controlled turret capable of operating at a range of 1.5 kilometers.
