During a briefing on board President Joe Biden’s plane as he traveled from Washington to Las Vegas, Nevada, and Los Angeles, California, John Kirby, the Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House National Security Council, announced that there is currently no military dialogue between Washington and Beijing. This statement, reported by TASS, highlights the need for swift communication restoration between the two superpowers.
Kirby expressed Washington’s strong desire to establish communication with Beijing along this line, citing the absence of a defense minister in China as a possible reason for the lack of dialogue. He emphasized the importance of reinstating military connections at all levels, from high-ranking officials to theater commanders.
This announcement comes on the heels of Reuters’ report that the United States has imposed import restrictions on three additional Chinese companies due to their involvement in forced labor practices against Uighurs and other minority groups.
Previously, the US Secretary of State had stated that Russia and China pose the most significant threat to global order at present. The absence of military dialogue between the US and China raises concerns about the potential implications for international relations and security.
