Armenia and Russia Must Resolve Weapon Deliveries Issue in a Partnership Atmosphere

Armenia and Russia need to come to an agreement on timely weapon deliveries, for which Yerevan has already paid, in a spirit of partnership. This was stated by the head of the Armenian parliament’s permanent commission on foreign relations, Sargis Handanyan, as reported by TASS.

“I hope that this issue will be resolved in a partnership atmosphere, and the obligations that Russia has towards Armenia will be somehow resolved,” said Handanyan.

Regarding the possibility of a legal solution to the weapon delivery problem, the politician noted that “theoretically, everything is possible,” while adding that “in practice, the problem should be resolved within the framework of partnership relations.”

According to him, the relationship between Yerevan and Moscow is of a partnership nature.

Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia, Grachya Sargsyan, stated that Yerevan would not sue Russia for not receiving weapons from its side.

In November, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia reported that the country is in dialogue with the European Union regarding possible deliveries of non-lethal weapons.

Previously, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the country is reforming its army according to the Swiss model.
